Dr. Surjit Mansingh is presently a Visiting Scholar at the Sigur Center for Asian Studies at The George Washington University, Washington, D.C. She recently retired from her position of Professor of International Politics at the Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, where she specialized in the comparative analyses of foreign policies including China and India.
She had previously taught at Universities in the United States, Italy, and India, and began her career in the Indian Foreign Service. She took her B.A. (Hons) and M.A at Delhi University, and her Ph.D. from the American University, Washington D.C. Surjit Mansingh is a frequent participant in International Conferences held in China, Europe, India and the U.S. and regularly publishes in scholarly journals. She is the author of Historical Dictionary of India (1996), India’s Search for Power: Indira Gandhi’s Foreign Policy, (1984), and co-author of Diplomatic History of Modern India (1971). She edited Prospects for India-United States Relations (2001), Nehru’s Foreign Policy, Fifty Years On (1998) and Indian and Chinese Foreign policies in Comparative Perspective (1998).
